Dr. Levine is a fantastic lecturer. Dr. Chandler (another professor) will say that nobody can compare to Dr. Levine as a lecturer for neuroanatomy, and he is 100% correct. Dr. Levine makes neuroanatomy so simple and he explains everything very well. Also, he gives candy to students that answer his questions. Show up to class on the days he presents. You will thank yourself later.

Also, apparently Dr. Levin does not lecture that much anymore, so experiencing his lectures nowadays is really lucky.

The class is pretty great and has a lot to offer. There is a lot of work involved, but if you have the motivation to do it the reward will be great. The professors are all sincere and truly do care for their students to learn the material.

If you want to do well in the course, it is vital that you prepare for the weekly quizzes, thoroughly do all of the labs, and make sure to get help for the writing. There are more than enough resources available for any student to succeed.

Also, the readings are important and so are the "additional readings". They provide much needed context for some major topics and are helpful.

My only problem was the play "The Hard Problem". I personally did not really like that play at all, but the discussions about consciousness that came from it were very nice. The library has the books for you to rent out for a few hours or overnight if you go in the last hour and I would recommend you do not waste 10-16 dollars on the book/ebook as you can easily read the whole thing in an hour or so!

If you have a moderate interest in the brain/neuroscience, I would highly recommend taking this course, even if it does "waste" a few GE credits.

First of all, I definitely suggest NOT taking a cluster, it is a waste of time and a lot more extra work. The benefit is taking off an extra G.E, but trust me, there is ALWAYS an easy class to cancel out a G.E, and four easy G.E's as compared to one really hard cluster is totally not worth it. This class actually had four professors: Chandler, S.H. Knowlton, B. Kristal, E. Levine, and M.S. Meldrum. While you're TA does grade most of the work and its heavily dependent on whether its a good TA or not, the class itself is extremely difficult and most students drop after the first quarter. NOT. WORTH. IT.

The course is fun but a challenge, it's doable. The cluster is taught by professors from the subjects: sciences but also humanities. It was a lot of fun. Make sure to form a study group, they help a lot. It's a good intro to life here at UCLA.

I am selling the course textbooks for cheap; the price is negotiable. text me at 323-447-9509
