Professor Santa Ana...is odd. On one hand, I can tell that he really does enjoy teaching and he does try his hardest to teach in lecture. I definitely learned some things that are interesting that I would love to learn more about. HOWEVER, this course is...Not great. The professor was unclear in his grading methods, and I think internet communication made everything worse. I wouldn't recommend this course - it isn't exactly what I envisioned a Chicano studies course to be. It was boring, rough around the edges, and it needs a LOT of refining. The readings were insanely long, assignments confusing, and it was just a bad vibe all around. You can always make your own choice, but I wish I read the reviews before I took this class with this professor.

I took this course on-line. Professor Santa Ana is chill, he has extended many class assignments to help the students out. Many times he gave extra credit, which can be useful but I did not do any of the extra credit. This class is based off humor covering topics of gender humor, racist humor, and humor used in social media to mention a few. The course book was one the professor wrote, which he gave access too. The course consisted of 1 dissection post and 1 short essay (2 paragraphs) each week and a 10 page final paper but no test, no mid-term, and no final exam. Overall I learned some things I did not know about humor and what it can cause.
