In agreement with everyone here, Professor Greene's a great teacher! I took Calculus before taking this class, but the way she explained different concepts really helped me to understand the reasoning behind the material. She's a great lecturer and was super helpful during office hours. Seeing pictures of her grandson and her cat was a plus too!

The class is pretty light in terms of workload. Weekly online assignments for homework, two midterms, and a final, all of which were pretty easy as long as you paid attention in lecture. Harris Khan was an amazing TA. Very responsive with emails and accommodating for students in different time zones. It was super useful to go to both his and Professor Greene's office hours since they both explained concepts so clearly.

I took this class in six weeks over the summer through CSI, and it was a good introduction to UCLA. Speaking as someone who literally despises math with every aspect of my being, Professor Greene actually made this complex concepts easy to understand. She is the sweetest lady and was always so chatty before class and in office hours, and loved showing us her cat and her grandson :) Her main goal is not to just teach the concepts, but to teach why the concepts work the way they do and how we arrived at them. A lot of things she explained were things I learned in high school, but never truly understood until now. There is homework almost nightly on Sapling, but it was usually like 7-10 problems and didn't take too long if you knew what you were doing. Be sure to attend lecture and take your own notes, because although she uploads her slides, they are handwritten and (due to the nature of trying to write on an IPad), difficult to read. She has a ton of office hours and was so accommodating whenever a technical or personal issue arose, and Harris was an absolutely fantastic TA as well. Since I struggle with math, I always attended every lecture, discussion, and office hour, so the class became time consuming, many of my peers did very will without committing so much time. She is very considerate and generous, and allows notes and other resources on her midterms and final, which were very fair (although rather long and time consuming, but again, I'm slow at math). I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking to take this class, especially over the summer or anyone who generally isn't the fondest of math. Hoping she teaches 31B soon!

Admittedly I found this class easy because I'd taken AP Calculus in high school, but I think even people without prior knowledge will do well with Professor Greene. She genuinely cares about her students, so she's always willing to answer questions and help you when you have trouble. Her lectures move at an appropriate pace and are pretty clear, and when something is unclear and you need clarification she's always willing to explain. Each homework assignment was only about 10 problems, and while there were several assignments due across the week, it was easily manageable; it wasn't busywork with too many useless problems. Exams were the same difficulty or slightly harder (but not too much harder) than homework. The TA Harris Khan was also very helpful, doing many clear examples and having a lot of office hours to help students. Overall, I'd highly recommend taking math with Paige Greene.

I loved Professor Greene, she had great energy and was super clear and helpful. The workload was very manageable, we had homework online and the exams were also online.

Amazing professor. Doesn't make calculus incomprehensible with random proofs or endless babbling, but rather makes every concept crystal clear. Office hours are always filled with students as she is very approachable and helpful (and does not make you feel dumb for asking "dumb" questions"). Tests and homework are VERY fair, and you will learn. Highly recommend!

Workload (CSI 6 week summer):
- lesson by lesson sapling homework (every other day) - very short and essential for understanding (kinda fun too)
- 1 weekly written homework (make sure you answer with sharp detail)
- 1 midterm and 1 final (VERY EASY)

Prof. Greene is such an amazing and funny professor. I took her for summer and she made the math class extremely fun and easy to comprehend.
I would totally take her class again.

Sweet teacher and a decent workload. I honestly benefitted more from the discussion sessions rather than the lecture though (TA was Harris Khan). Prof Greene was a good teacher as well though. The only flaw is that it's a little hard to get into contact with her which is understandable.

I took this class as Math31A in Summer 2020. The professor is really generous with grades and does not give impossible tests (mostly they’re easy but certain questions are hard but since we are in quarantine we used the app sapling to do tests and it was pretty easy as it gave us more trials). She is also really understanding (I misunderstood something and forgot to submit my work but she let me resubmit it).
Coming to the cons, her explanation was not really understandable at some points (Hard concepts) and was kinda messy. Sometimes, she would explain really briefly in class but the hw would be harder, things she didn’t discuss in class. The TA’s (Harris) was amazing and was really helpful in office hours(legend). He gave so many office hours and gave review questions which were kinda harder than the test but were helpful to get a strong understanding. Overall, most of us got As (the average was 94) but at some point I had to work hard to understand and the workload was kinda tough. If you would like to guarantee a good grade and are welling to work hard, take it.
