She's harsh in class, but I emailed her about a private matter a few times and she was very kind and accommodating.

If you've gotten this far in the 7 series you know the material, slides, and tests are entirely independent of the professor. In terms of difficulty, there should be no difference in taking this class with Professor Khankan or any other professor in the department. She is, however, very engaging, funny, and approachable. Her classes are structured well, she doesn't leave any confusion in the clicker questions and explains concepts in depth. She's the best professor I've taken in the series (Deb Pires is also very structured and knows the material but boy is she rude and unapproachable). I heard a lot of horror stories about the class itself, it honestly wasn't that bad. Maybe it was because I enjoyed the material infinitely more than 7A and 7B but training yourself to understand what the purpose is using clicker questions really helps in knowing which concepts to answer in the midterms. The hardest/least interesting part for me was the last few weeks where the focus shifts to gene editing but thankfully we were given the option to opt-out of the final due to covid-19 closures.

Khankan was a fairly average LS professor. Her lectures are generally pretty clear and she is articulate enough. However, I think Khankan sped too fast through explaining clicker questions and I wish she gave less time for us to click in and more time to explain the answer. Pre-test review sessions were also just 50 minute Q&A sessions which really are not helpful at all. Lastly, I thought LS7C tests were worded even worse than LS7A and 7B tests (didn't know this was possible) but I am not positive whether Khankan makes her own tests. Overall, standard LS professor and a standard LS class with launchpad, clickers, true/false questions on tests, etc. but slightly more difficult (more memorization, homework makes for a smaller % of the grade, worse tests).

Professor Khankan is one of the more engaging lecturers in the life science department. She knows the material very well and is able to answer almost all questions. If she is not able to answer a question, she knows where to direct you to find the answer. The format is the same as every other life science 7 class: Iclicker participation grades every class, discussion sections with worksheets, multiple choice exams, etc. Overall, this course isn’t too bad if you stay on top of the launchpad and know the discussion worksheets, especially the graphs and charts.

Professor Khankan is amazing! She is extremely sweet and kind and she's just an amazing lecturer. I was scared to take her and Professor Zamudio's class at first because of her bad reviews, but I don't regret taking it at all. The class gets difficult at times with wording on tests, but I still learned a lot from Professor Khankan and her awesome TAs. Definitely take this class with her if you can

My favourite professor yet! She adopted the LS7 series format really well into her teaching style, which made me love the class and made my concepts really really clear. She collaborated what we learnt on Launchpad with the clickers in class, which was not always the case in previous LS7 classes. She gave us enough time during clicker questions, and explained them afterwards in a straightforward, knowledgeable, easy-to-comprehend manner. Take her if you can! And attend her office hours, whether or not you have questions - she answers questions that people have in a lecture-like style so it will emphasize the concepts that have already been covered in class and will make them stick in your head. Just attend all her classes and pay attention to the explanation she gives for the clicker questions and you'll be fine in the midterms and final.

Khankan has such engaging lectures and she really explains the many processes well. She breaks down every clicker question and emphasizes what we need to know and what we don't. Definitely take her or Esdin if you get the chance.

The tests are confusing because of the wording, and the TAs can't really answer any clarification question which sucks, but I generally performed the same on 7C tests as 7A/B. Definitely focus on how to read diagrams and apply the information to problems- like if blood pressure rises how does it affect the production of this hormone, etc. If you haven't been to the LA learning sessions yet, this is the class to start going to them. In them you can practice with what kinds of diagrams will show up on the tests, and the LAs are good at explaining things in an understandable way.

As said before, I found this class to be the most difficult of the 7 series just because there's so much information. But that's not a result of the professors, - all 7 series classes use Launchpad and same exam format. Khankan explained concepts and clickers better than the other professors I've had for the 7 series, and her lectures are Bruincasted so you can always go and hear back how she explained something before any tests, which is really helpful.

This class is definitely the most difficult of the 7 series, but Khankan is good at explaining difficult physiological concepts. Launchpad can be tedious, but all of the answers are online on quizlet so getting most points shouldn’t be too difficult. Exams are definitely challenging but not impossible.
