Professor
Samuel Keeley
Most Helpful Review
Fall 2019 - Dr. Keeley is my favorite history professor at UCLA. He was an engaging lecturer and highly receptive and available to students. This course had only one textbook, and the rest of the readings were free PDFs. Midterm and final were essay exams. There was a relatively short research paper we were tasked to write about practically any topic in 19th century German history of interest to us. Dr. Keeley does not teach generalized history; he is highly specialized, and encourages students to do the same in their papers. I found this very refreshing, and it was far more rewarding to research a personally interesting topic as opposed to writing a super general paper.
