Professor Ramsey is a great teacher. He explains all the concepts clearly and thoroughly. Generally, he's very helpful and friendly as well. There is weekly homework which doesn't take more than a couple hours and a weekly quiz which is 25 minutes and timed on Gradescope. The midterms were somewhat challenging with median grades in the mid to high 80's. I would definitely recommend taking this class with Ramsey because of the fact that he's such a good teacher, the workload isn't too bad, but you learn a lot of interesting topics.
This professor does an INCREDIBLE job of teaching Math 61! He is so clear in lecture and his passion for the subject makes going to class truly an enjoyable experience for everyone. Definitely one of the best professors I've had at UCLA. Do not hesitate to take a class taught by Ramsey.
Ramsey is truly an awesome professor. He is very funny, clear in his lecturing, willing to clarify where needed, and overall fair. The tests were a bit tricky, but overall very doable. I highly recommend this class.
He's alright. I personally didn't find this class easy. It could be because of the online format that really hinders motivation, but regardless, I think his homework doesn't really prepare you for exams. He was very clear in lecture, just wish he taught at the same rigor he expected applied for tests.
GOAT professor(and honestly super underrated).
As a teacher, he's great because he makes everything so simple to understand. Even though concepts got progressively more complicated, he made sure to really dumb it down with simplified explanations, good examples, and good non-examples. He's also a fun guy and tries fitting in the occasional anecdote/joke to make the class seem less mundane.
His exams make you think more than have you do lots of weird computation(one reason this may also be so is because this isn't a class on Lin Alg or Calc, mostly just logic).
His workload is super light(1 hour average/week). AND, he's one of the very few math professors who designed their midterms such that it can be taken within an hour.
This class isn't like 33B or other calc classes that get super boring really quickly. Fun problems and fun topics covered. Strongly recommend this prof and this class!
Amazing professor, loved the energy and enthusiasm he brought to lectures. My grade was lower than expected because I made the silliest of errors (and over-confidence really) but not a reflection of his teaching. I still loved this class and the material a lot.
HWs were fair and deadlines weren't too tight.
Exams were fair, although it is tough to get a hang of proving ideas in this class.
Lectures were engaging but COVID really did this man dirty, he would've been a treat to learn from under ordinary circumstances.
IF you can, take a class with him, very helpful and fun to learn math with.
Professor is very clear and thorough with his lectures. There are weekly quizzes and homeworks that are not too difficult, but the exams are definitely more difficult than what you may see on a quiz (given, this was an online quarter). I did not really enjoy this type of math, but I would definitely recommend this professor.
This class is not too bad. Ramsey is a decent lecturer who provides good explanations and examples in class. It’s sometimes disorganized due to the online format, but he provides notes afterwards. The quizzes and homework are at a decent difficulty. The first midterm was slightly hard but I think he adjusted the difficulty for midterm 2 and final, which is great. I definitely recommend taking a class with Ramsey as he is one of the better math professors.
Professor Ramsey is super nice and sweet. He genuinely cares about making us learn. The workload was alright and the exams were pretty fair. He's very approachable about grade disputes, so don't worry if the TAs grade too harshly. His lectures were somewhat disorganized tho, but that's probably more on COVID than on him.
Professor Ramsey is such a great guy. His drawings are always a 10/10 (esp. his pigeons) and his explanations are always pretty clear. However, the material for this class was honestly really difficult for me and I struggled a lot. Regardless, I always enjoyed attending lecture because Ramsey was a really kind and funny professor. Overall, didn't vibe with the material but definitely loved Ramsey so if you can take this class with him, do it!!
