This review is for public health 150. She is an amazing professor! At first I was scared to take her because there wasn’t any reviews on the bruinwalk, but now I’m glad I took her! Grades are based on clicker points, a midterm, a 3 page paper, and a non cumulative final. Midterm questions are mostly based on her lecture slides so as long as you study the slides you should be good. This class is kind of on the easy side I guess. I always started studying(from scratch) like two-three days before the midterm/final and was still able to pull an A. The most important thing you should focus is not memorizing the datas , you should focus on the overall objective/concept of the lecture. There wasn’t anything to memorize for this class, if there is, she(or the TAs) will let you know that a particular percentage/statistics would be on the midterm. For the paper, you’ll get a perfect grade as long as you follow the rubric. There is also a super easy 5 point extra credit as well. Overall, this class was interesting and easy!

Professor Shafir is honestly the best! The material was very manageable and the tests were not bad either, I believe the average for the midterm was an A-. We had one midterm and a final which is not cumulative. It was open notes and proctored through zoom. You also do not need to attend lectures, but she had live sessions once a week and we would just talk about COVID or topics relating to the lecture for the week which she posts on CCLE. She is very helpful and one of the reasons why I am excited to minor in public health.

Quarter: Fall 2021
Grade: A

This class was completely online and asynchronous this quarter so take this with a grain of salt if you're in person. Professor Shafir is a very nice person and a solid lecturer. The course had very little work: two posts per module, watch/read the required material, and a 2-3 page public health editorial. The midterm and final were open note and multiple choice, but were still a bit tricky. You definitely need to review the material before tests because she gave 1 hour for 50 questions. She offers some extra credit, so I'd do it just to be safe. If you try your best in this class it should be an easy A.

Really informative and interesting class, just pay attention to deadlines because the asynchronous nature can make it easy to forget about them. Agree with everything said in other review!
