Prof Ross is a beast. He managed $5b worth early on his career and then continued to grow as a personal and business professional and now he works at BoA managing $1.5b. The class is amazing and he breaks down the financial markets and everything in the global economy you need to know. He also talks a lot of professional development, delving into the soft-skills like interviews, emails, etc. He continually emphasizes and encourages that he wants students to follow their passion and not be led by the feeling of "oh I have to do this so I can achieve X". Overall, an amazing class that I would take a million times over.
I heard great things from others about Steve and this class, so I was immediately interested in taking it. The class is typically only offered to econ students (I'm biology), but Steve was super helpful and immediately gave me an enrollment number. The class consists of 4 mandatory lectures and 2 assignments (creating a LinkedIn profile and writing an elevator speech) both super beneficial to the student. The lectures cover topics about careers, investments, how to network, as well as providing tons of helpful resources. Steve includes personal anecdotes about how he's been able to find success in his career which is super inspiring. He clearly cares a lot about his students and wants everyone to find their own success--he even schedules 1-on-1 calls with his students to discuss their own career paths and provide some advice. I HIGHLY recommend taking this course, Steve is great!
Professor Ross delivers what is arguably the most captivating, relevant, and useful course in the entire economics department. The class is pass/no pass, meets twice during the quarter for six hours each (on weekends), and goes over everything from career pathways to interview tips to investing to the current state of financial markets. I'd highly recommend taking this class before graduating, it's essential.
Professor Ross provides one of the most relevant classes for undergrads. He breaks down in detail what one should be thinking about for one's future post-graduation and how to navigate the professional world. Additionally, he provides a great foundation for one to properly keep up with the news.
The only thing I wish would be different would be that this class could be offered to more than just Econ majors, as I believe everyone could benefit from his class.
Professor Ross is the best professor ever and teaches the best class UCLA has to offer. The class goes into depth about the current global market, interview skills, and future careers in business. I found this class very helpful and eye-opening, and even though I am only a freshman, it gave me a better perspective on what I want to accomplish post-graduation. Professor Ross is so passionate about everything he talks about and his story is truly inspiring. This class is offered twice a quarter on Saturday, so if you have the chance, definitely take it. You will not regret it! Taking this class is an investment in yourself and your future.
