Spring 2018 - I am so glad I took Shakespeare with Professor Dickey. Initially, I was not looking forward to Shakespeare, but Professor Dickey took such a fresh approach to studying Shakespeare's texts! I always thought that Shakespeare's plays were entirely his original creation, but by taking this class, I learned that he ripped off of works of other writers for his plays (*gasp*)! Studying source materials for each Shakespeare play made each text more meaningful and illuminating. Professor Dickey is a well-versed and encouraging instructor. He brings out the best of each Shakespeare text. He is funny without trying. He is always pleasant to his students. I really looked forward to going to this class and would definitely recommend you to take it as well!

Took a seminar on the Beat generation with Professor Dickey. He is a lively, passionate, and enthusiastic speaker, and class was always entertaining. Grade consists of one-page responses to the readings each week, a student-led class discussion based on a reading/theme of your choice, and a final paper. Class was very structured for a seminar and I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Final grade was a B, but the experience was definitely worthwhile. Definitely take him! Looking forward to taking him for Shakespeare B next quarter.

Fall 2021 - I loved this class!!! The workload for this class is spread out really nicely and he was very understanding when I was having technology issues :) I didn't know much about Beat Literature when I started this class, but now it is one of my favorite genres. I recommend this class to everyone!
