This class is an easy A, but if you really care about learning about sociology, avoid this professor. Approximately 2 weeks are spent on actual sociological theory and its applications; the rest of the class is professor Anderson attempting to be a social activist. If you do not hold heavily liberal ideas, or are not willing to pretend that you do in lectures, discussions, and essays, you will likely struggle in this class.

Workload is low: weekly journals, no final exam, two papers, one 20-question multiple choice exam (easy). There are a TON of readings assigned, but most are unnecessary. Don't buy "This Book is Not Required," because as much as she tries to tell you it is, I promise you you don't need this book at all.

In conclusion, easy class with a very very liberal professor who wants you to get on board with her ideals. If you're already there, great, you'll love it; if not, take the easy A, but don't expect a strong sociological foundation.

Professor Anderson is a good instructor who covers everything you need to know in lecture. The readings are only necessary for the weekly journals. As long as you attend lecture and take decent notes you should do fairly well in the class. Anderson is an intelligent and though provoking instructor who genuinely cares about students. I highly recommend her.

She and her TAs are just GPA destroyers. You won't want to take her class, trust me. No offense, but she is the worst teacher I have ever seen.

Took her class in Fall 2013. Although her lectures sometimes get a bit boring, Anderson is a well-organized and generally engaged teacher. Workload was fine, expect a weekly journal (1-2 pages), a quiz (multiple choice, really easy), and two papers (4-6 pages). Overall, an easy A.

Selling (as good as new):
