Excellent and interesting class! Brought a new perspective on Psychology, the more important part of it..the biological aspect of emotions! Professor Minor was really chill and relaxed. He didn't demand too much. His dry sarcastic humor was entertaining, and he was extremely knowledgable. Easy A. 2 short summaries and an easy 10 page Research Final. Class was more like a discussion then a lecture, and he lets everyone in even if you arnt waitlisted.

I took comparative psych with him and my experience wasn't as bad as the one I had in this course. He is an absolutely rude person, and you can tell he doesn't enjoy teaching/mentoring. He expects you to know everything and grades papers very harshly. He gives close to no guidance in office hours. He spoke to me in a very condescending way and other students (I witnessed). He even made a girl cry at the end of class once. She was contemplating dropping the course from midterm paper grade, and he asked what her gpa was in front of everything. When she told him, he said "yeah, you're not going to make it." He is a jerk and although the topic was very interesting, the class was not enjoyable at all. His lectures lacked structure and it was mostly him rambling about different experiments and bragging about people he knew. Avoid this course at all costs, but if you do end up taking it, I hope you have tough skin! WORST TEACHER I'VE HAD AT UCLA and meanest!

Let me start this by saying THIS GUY SUCKS! I took him for 118 and although I found the course and the book VERY interesting, I can't overstate how little concern this guy has for students. He forces you to go to lecture by instituting these stupid questions at the beginning of each lecture which he decided to count as our "3rd midterm" and of course many students performed much worse on these than on the REAL midterm and final thus screwing their grade. He is one of those teachers who feels he is intellectually leaps and bounds above his students and it shows in any attempted interaction with him. Avoid this guy if you can, you'll save yourself a whole lot of frustration!
