Winter 2018 - By far my favorite class at UCLA. It is a fiat lux, where you interview survivors of the Holocaust every week and then you write a short paper with a partner about their story. There are no lectures, all you do is sit at a table and hear an amazing story and get to ask questions. They serve you food and it is only once a week for an hour. You can only take it as a freshmen, but the professor made exceptions if you need one more unit to graduate. The most eye-opening experience at UCLA. Class is at the Hillel off campus though! The professor was amazing and has been teaching this class for a long time and passionate about how the class can transform students.

WOW. What an awesome class, no lecture was ever boring. Prof Presner is a wonderful professor. I highly recommend enrolling in german 89, the honors section for 59. You get to take an extra section with the prof and you get to have some in depth discussions with him. It's easy to get a good grade in the class if you do all the work. But don't think this class is just a breeze. There is A TON of work to keep up with. By far my most time consuming class; lots of reading, short papers, and long long movie screenings. Despite all the work, I highly recommend this class. Presner is a great lecturer, I mean this is only his 3rd year teaching this class and look how popular it is already!

I took this class spring quarter and it was interesting. He had podcasts and while listening to them when I was reviewing for the final, you can hear the enthusiasm he has for this subject. Web designing is an important part of the class but the discussions teach you how to create one. It is easy to get an A, the assignements are pretty easy but the final was long. Just budget your time on the final and you should do fine. It's too bad he won't be back until fall 2007.
