I thought she was very helpful and also very approachable as a professor! She taught concepts really well and I actually enjoyed the pace of her clicker questions because I got to answer the question on my own, ask people around me, then relax a little before getting back into the material.
I am genuinely shocked that someone enjoyed Kane's class. She acts like a high school teacher still trying to get some type of power over the students; she once literally told the class that we couldn't leave until she dismissed us. She's alright at getting the concepts across, though they're so straightforward that not a lot of teaching is required, but her attitude was horrific. She gave us this lecture before course evals were due about how unfairly women professors were treated in reviews, which on its own I absolutely agree with—they're respected less and not seen as an authority which is horrible. However, she was the absolute worst person to deliver that speech given that her behavior was intolerable regardless of gender. Yeah, you'll get an A in the class, but you would have to pay me to get me to sit through 10 more weeks of Kane. Every professor has the same exams which you can get through just using logic and reasoning, so avoid her if you can.
Kane was a good professor! As far as LS 7 lecturers go, I thought she taught well and tried to keep the class engaged. She could have maybe spent a little less time between clicker questions, but otherwise, she was solid. In terms of the actual class itself, I found it to be a little harder and more frustrating than LS7A. While the material for a lot of people is a bit easier to understand, I thought the exams themselves were a bit harder (Although that might have been because I had very little interest in the material). Also, there were times where I felt the class was wasting my time. The "labs" for this class are two hours long, but I felt like a lot of the activities we did either could be finished in much less time or could be better formatted to finish earlier. Additionally, there is a project where you basically have to research a plant in the Botanical Gardens, and honestly, that was a fat waste of time, as none of the material required for that project was relevant to the class. Long story short, I thought the class sucked, but Kane was good.
