Conley's super thorough and easy to follow in lecture. He goes over the material multiple times and his review sessions cover everything in detail as well - so even if you miss a few classes, as long as you attend the review session you're good. Office hours are useful if you have doubts and he's always ready to make time for students. He is, however, slow with posting grades and giving back midterms.

Loved this class aside from the lab which was absolutely frustrating.

Conley is the GOAT. This guy makes you love math. He is well-versed in mathematics (and surprisingly, also programming) and it is obvious he is passionate about it. He's a great lecturer and actually cares for his students. What more is there to ask for? I was fortunate to have him my entire first year, taking his LIFESCI30A/B and MATH32A classes. That being said, MATH32A was the first time I took Calculus in a year (since AP Calc BC), so I was scared for this class. But Conley made the concepts clear and easy to grasp and understand. His class doesn't take participation, but for this quarter, his lectures were not BruinCasted, so you either had to go to lecture or have a friend send notes. For his lectures, write down everything he writes down on the board. To be completely honest, you don't even need to listen, just copy the board... verbatim, because what he writes on the board is everything you need to know, nothing extraneous. He practically takes your notes for you. Homework is assigned weekly and actually graded, so make sure you actually do it. If you need help, go to his office hours: he breaks down any problem you need help on and it's an opportunity to get to know him outside of class (he's a pretty interesting guy). Your grade in this class depends on your two midterms and final exam. For each midterm and the final, he hosts a review session. This is a must; he goes over EVERYTHING relevant to the exam and answers any questions. The exams themselves are not too difficult, given that you actually do the homework and go over your notes. The questions are mainly calculation-based (free response) and will have one multiple-part theory-based question (usually T/F and explain why, or multiple choice). If you do really bad on one midterm he'll drop the lower score and will weigh your final more heavily for your final grade. He will post practice exams on CCLE, but I highly recommend also going to the SAC test bank to get previous exams, as he reuses the way questions are presented and the theory questions. Discussion attendance is not mandatory nor necessary to do well in the class. Take this guy's class(es). 10/10.

Conley is a great professor! His explanations are clear and thorough and he really cares about students understanding the material. Going to office hours and his midterm review sessions definitely helped me a lot in this class. He also helps you develop both the geometric and algebraic understanding of the material.
His exams are written fairly and the homework definitely helps you prepare for them. I cannot recommend him enough and would definitely take him again without hesitation.

Lectures were very thorough and incredibly detailed! The review sessions were super helpful and they would go on for hours until everyone's questions were answered.Sometimes they would go up to 10 P.M! It wasn't mandatory, we were free to come and go as we pleased. Midterms were super fair and he would post practice exams that were similar to the midterms / final exams. Homework was pretty light too, it would be collected once a week and the T.A's and L.A's were helpful too. They even held their own review session. Would recommend this professor 10/10 and would definitely take again!

Conley is an amazing professor. His lectures are straightforward and he takes his time out to explain everything very clearly. He holds review sessions before every test and proceeds to go over literally everything. Homework was simple and his tests are very direct and almost straight from the textbook. 10/10 would recommend him.

He is the best professor that I have had so far at UCLA (he won teacher of the year award 2 years ago). He holds 3-4 hour (perhaps longer) review sessions a few days before midterms/final and will explain all the material covered and answer all the questions that students have. Pretty easy class, especially if you have taken high school calculus. Do not worry if you have not, since he doesn't assume that everybody has. The only "difficult" aspect of the class is the coding assignments in lab. However, you can easily find help in TA office hours. Definitely take the ls30 series if you are not a math person.

Dr. Conley is an all-star professor. He truly cares about his students; he color codes his lecture notes, he holds super long exam review sessions, and in general, he's always available for help and clarificiation. He wants all of his students to succeed -- he wishes all of us could get As! He makes the class super engaging because he loves what he does. The labs at times were super frustrating, but it was a good challenge. The homework was only graded for completion and I thought the midterms and the final were super fair. People tend to be disruptive in class or they leave early which was so frustrating because he's just a smol bean. TAKE CONLEY!

This class along with LS30a have been, so far, the most interesting classes I've ever taken at UCLA since I, like many if my LS peers, despise calc. If you're not a math person, take the LS30 series rather than the math series (why suffer?) If you want the get the best grade possible, do your very best to get Conley as your professor because his lectures are engaging, you can see his passion for mathematics, and his care for our success is evident. If you get him as your professor or not for either LS30A or B,, make sure to attend Conley's review session because he answers literally every question the students have, goes over nearly all of the new material we covered, and shows us numerous examples by hand or on sage. Furthermore, the concepts of this class, especially feedback loops, give you a headstart on concepts you'll learn in other life science classes.

Basically, I highly recommend Conley and encourage you all to take his class.
