Honestly the class is pretty easy in terms of material. She had open book tests so you also didn't really have to memorize the plethora of information from lectures. Also thank god I took this during spring 2020 bc if I wouldn't have been able to speed up the extremely slow talking speed of clark this class would've been a lot more awful. Only real downside about this class is that it was kinda a lot of work that you had to do for it

Courtney Clark is an amazing professor, honestly one of the best ones I've had at UCLA thus far. I am not a psych major yet I enjoy this class very much. There is a lot of work that is entailed but if you do it you're guaranteed to get a great grade.

This class was hard for me, but I enjoyed it. I had a pretty biased view on psychology going into the course, but I find it interesting now. I thought we would mainly learn about clinical psychology, which I wasn’t too excited about, but we also learned a lot about brain anatomy, how people learn, how people develop, how memory works, and more.

Courtney Clark is so nice and the teaching team is super friendly and helpful. This class is mainly asynchronous, although it is listed as online recorded. Class structure is a longer “lesson” on Tuesday and a shorter “lesson” on Thursday with an hour live lab on Thursday. Lessons are a series of videos with a tiny bit of questions that are graded on completion. Lessons can be quite long, but I watch them on double speed.

Labs are pretty easy. Some are mandatory, some can be completed on your own. Some labs are completed with a group that you work with again later. I really liked my group, so I didn’t mind. Labs are graded on accuracy, but if you have any questions just as a TA during the live lab sessions. You do some experiments and send out some surveys, but nothing extremely hard.

The tests are the hardest things about this class. There are five quizzes but she drops the lowest quiz. The quizzes are somewhat hard. They’re questions about very detailed things that I just don’t remember. Some of the questions are on Quizlet, but not all of them. The final was also pretty hard because again there were many detailed things that were skimmed over very fast in lectures or were not even mentioned at all.

Quizzes: 25%
Lessons: 10%
Article Analyses: 2%
Labs: 15%
Video Assignments: 6%
Mini-assignments: 1%
Lab reports: 16%
Final: 25%

A lot of people have to take this class, so I would say if you HAVE to take it, Clark isn't a bad option! I thought the class was pretty boring with a lot of busy work that felt unnecessary. I recommend taking it as early as possible because there are no prerequisites and as a 3rd year it felt like being back in high school in terms of the material and the difficulty.

I recommend taking this class! It is just like AP psych in high school. The topics were super interesting and it was not a ton of work. One day of the lecture was completely asynchronous and the other was a live lab. For the labs, you had to work in a group which was a bit hard to coordinate since everything was virtual. The lecture content was interesting and engaging. There were a lot of mini-assignments that felt like busy-work but overall this class is interesting and low-stress.

I liked Clark! The class worked really well in the online format. I wasn't particularly a fan of the content as it was really basic and didn't explore concepts in depth, but I guess that's why this is an intro class. Anyway, the lectures were good, and I liked how they were broken up into smaller clips instead of hour long videos. It make everything seem a lot lighter. However, I didn't really enjoy the assignment breakdown. It wasn't that the assignments (3 [or 4] quizzes, 3 1-minute long videos, article analyses, and labs) were hard or worthless, it's just that they were very sporadically assigned, so I was constantly checking the syllabus to see what was due every Tuesday. It was tiring and I would have liked some regularity. The two labs that were conducted in groups were okay. I didn't hate them but it was honestly pretty boring and I didn't really gain any new knowledge from them. Overall, this class wasn't very interesting, but that's not Clark's fault. She's a super nice and approachable professor and I'd love to take a class with her again.

Professor Clark and her TA were so kind, helpful, compassionate, and understanding. They were flexible and accommodating with deadlines, submission issues, and clarification of assignments. The grading was relatively lenient and she dropped the lowest grade of most categories (quizzes, assignments, lectures, article analysis, etc.)

There was quite a bit of material to be read and understood but it was all reasonable. On the tests, you are given a test bank to practice with in advance. The group work is also manageable and you are given time in class to complete it with your groupmates.

Overall, I thought this was a very reasonable and enjoyable class. Professor Clark did an excellent job caring for her students and being kind during a difficult pandemic and online learning environment.

Incredible professor and staff. A lot has already been said about professor Clark, so I'm just going to parrot all of it. This class was very enjoyable in flow, and overall workload. Lectures and modules were very engaging and interesting. Maybe it's because I took this class as a junior, but the tests and assignments were all very easy if you even watched her lecture once. Overall, highly recommend taking this class with her and considering other classes with her too- you can tell Professor Clark cares about her students understanding and promoting a passion for psych.
